The "Kaiserwinkl" holiday region has become famous for its traditional, unusual and imaginative events

Regional Capital Innsbruck

Surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape, Innsbruck the regional capital with its charming Gothic old district offers splendid buildings and art treasures. It has one of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval town centres in Austria and houses among others the town's very symbol "Goldene Dachl"

All the important periods such as the Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and "K.u.K." Monarchy periods, invite visitors to take a journey back in time. But lovers of modern art will also find numerous art galleries and various exhibitions.

Innsbruck also owes its international fame to the fact that the winter Olympic Games took place there in 1964 and 1976.

Adults and children show an equal fascination for the visit of the Alpine Zoo, the highest zoo in Europe sheltering over 2000 Alpine species.

Salzburg city

Salzburg has a glorious past. Picturesquely situated along the Salzach river, dominated by the "Hohensalzburg" fortress, it conveys a poetic picture of itself.

Salzburg is also well known for its famous sons: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who saw the light of day here in 1756. His birthplace, the house where he lived and numerous places where he worked in his early years, make Salzburg a particularly interesting place for music lovers to visit.

The yearly Salzburg summer festival keeps the cultural heritage alive. Many impressive cultural and religious monuments such as the Salzburg dome are now on UNESCO's World Heritage list.

400 animals from all the continents live in the beautiful "Hellbrunn" zoo within a short distance of the festival town of Salzburg. The zoo is above all known as a model for its enclosures and wonderful location.
